Taipei City Government Opens Community College Theme Workshop for Participation in Probity
To promote probity and a trustworthy society, the Department of Government Ethics (DOGE) of Taipei City Government (TCG) is encouraging citizens to be on the lookout for corruption, and is especially running a “Promoting a Clean Government and an Ethical Society” course in cooperation with community colleges around the city. Free courses continually start as of today, and we invite all citizens to join us in taking interest in discussing public topics.
The DOGE says that this project has entered its 8th year, and the number of citizens participating each year is increasing. There are various types of courses in the workshop, including this year’s Citizen Forum, Multimedia and Performing lessons. Run by the Da’an Community College, the” “Hand-in-Hand We PICTURE an Upright Character in Me” is led by a professional illustrator Luo Fang-Juin(羅方君). Through reediting and redrawing picture books, parents and kids plant integrity and probity within the stories in a relaxing and happy way, while at the same time emphasize their values. The Community College of Zhongshan set up a “Probity March-and-Sing Ukulele Performing Workshop,” also planting values of probity as well as the importance of integrity and adhering to the law, through singing and playing the ukulele. At the Community College of SongShan, there is a “Cultivating PeoPo Online-Citizen Journalists & Interviewing the National Effort of Establishing a Clean Government” course, continuing the experience devoted to nurturing citizen-reporters. It lets community members get involved in the reporting of various public issues, and at the same time keeping watch on the government as well as speaking for the locals.
The DOGE emphasizes that a government of probity needs the participation of all citizens. Watching the government and resorting to a fair, judicial and sincere social environment also makes it the main reason for setting up the courses. The courses that are available in 2013 relating to “Promoting a Clean Government and an Ethical Society” are all free of charge and are start from today. We welcome you to join the programs, and feel free to contact a local community college near you. Information on the courses is available on the DOGE website and community college websites of Taipei City.
